Michael Tan began his photographic obsession as a hobbyist, while capturing memorable
moments for weddings, events and editorials. He soon graduated to becoming a full time
assistant, with greater exposure to lighting and other professional techniques.

Mika Images was born in 2001. Incorporated as a Private Limited Company in 2012,
Mika Images now expands the reach of Michael’s skills to even benefit Ministries and Statutory
Boards.

As Michael began freelancing with many leading advertising photographers, he also accepted
pro bono shoots, concurrently with a rich assortment of editorials and corporate assignments.
In 2006, Michael was awarded second place in the Advertising category of the International
Photography Awards. And, in 2008, he received an Honourable Mention in the same Awards for
another submission.

The journey may have been long, but Michael is now a recognized name, with a wide spectrum
of photographic experience. He surpasses expectations across briefs for advertising, editorial,
corporate, architecture, products and even food. His versatility is invaluable in anticipating and
solving technical problems fast, without delaying production schedules.

Michael is also a member of the Professional Photographers Association (Singapore). As a
member, he understands the legal issues associated with the photography business. Attaining a
Level 3 in bizSAFE, Michael is also very particular about Workplace Safety, ensuring his sets are
safe and injury-free.
